Fay Purves

Fay Purves
1972 – 2018

Born on the 20th of September, 1972 in Glasgow, Scotland

Passed away on the 21st of July 2018, in Edinburgh, Scotland

Fay was a daughter to Sheila and Malcolm, a sister to Heather, a wife to Brian, daughter-in-law to Sheena & Bob, sister-in-law to Pam & Steve and Grant, mother to Fraser and Blair, auntie to Angus and Amy, partner to Ewan, and a beloved friend to so many.

Fay Lesley Purves (nee Allan) was a force of nature, and someone you didn’t forget once you had met her.  She embraced life, loved fully, and lived every day with an open heart.  She was a kind, intelligent, sociable and happy person whose enthusiasm for life was truly infectious, and she managed to achieve more in her short life than most of us could dream of.  Those who knew her, loved her.

At the age of only 45, she was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer which had spread extensively into her liver.  She survived 11 weeks from the date of diagnosis to the date of her death.  During those weeks, she continued to put everything into life – enjoying her visitors, listening to everyone’s news, spending as much time with people as possible, and getting out as much as she could.

I wanted to create this site as a place to record her life in stories, photos, videos, and memories.  She passed away far too young, and she would never have the opportunity to tell all her stories and memories to her children and the future generations, so I wanted to make sure as much of it was recorded on her behalf as possible.  Please enjoy this memorial to Fay; a life so well lived deserves to be a life remembered.  If you have any memories, stories, photos or videos of Fay that you would like to share on here, please get in touch via the contact page.

Fay was my life long companion and my constant cheerleader.  Fay, I’m forever your loving sister and supporter too.  Heather xx
