FAYP challenge September 2021

Our fundraising idea for 2021 was to “travel” to Kilimanjaro virtually in memory of Fay. The charity we chose was Maggie’s Centres; they were such a great support to Fay during her illness.

So our goal was to collectively cover the 7515 kms to get from Edinburgh to Mount Kilimanjaro in just over a month. All activities were included – running, walking, cycling, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding… we even had some surfing kms in there!

We had a strong start and week 1 got us to Belgium…

The pace picked up in week 2 and we made it across Europe and on the way to north Africa…

By week 3, we had covered the total distance and reached Mount Kilimanjaro!

Things were getting creative now, and we were starting to see some map art appearing on the Strava activities!

We weren’t going to stop there, so we decided to make a final aim for Dubai, to see if we could end up with a beach holiday by the end of the month. Needless to say, the team smashed it…

We had around 50 people in the group, covered a massive total of 13,104 kms and raised £1,420 for Maggie’s Centres. What a great experience to see so many people getting out and being active, while raising money for such a wonderful cause.

It was a joy to see Fay’s legacy continuing on, and inspiring people. Remember to Follow All Your Passions 💜💜
