Fay’s legacy

Fay was someone who followed her passions.  She made time for friends and family, she took part in fun activities, she organised events, had various jobs, raised money for charity, and she always followed her heart.  In remembering Fay, we remember how she lived her life and it inspires us to do the same – to love fully, embrace life and live each day with an open heart.

When trying to create a name to capture how Fay lived her life and what message she would want to be carried on in her memory, we realised that the letters of her name were already spelling it out: FAY P – Follow All Your Passions.

We hope to use the name FAY P to have events and raise funds for causes that Fay was passionate about, and that her friends and family are passionate about too.  Not only can we raise funds for worthy causes, we can also wear her name with pride and carry forward the message that she left us all: Follow All Your Passions.

Strathclyde University sponsorship

As a wonderful tribute to Fay’s legacy, Alan Brophy, an old friend of hers, has set up the “Fay Purves Scholarship” in 2020 to fund a student to attend Strathclyde University over their four year degree. The Strathclyde University Scholarship Programme supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and aims to help them realise their potential. learn more

Tributes received in July 2018

So many lovely messages were sent to Fay and the family during and after Fay’s illness – true testament to how much she touched people’s lives.  All those precious words about Fay became my inspiration for putting this website together.  A life so special and inspiring has to be recorded, so that friends and family can remember the Fay they knew, and learn about the Fay that others knew.  The common themes throughout the tributes to Fay are loud and clear: her kindness, her smile, her courage and her sense of adventure. learn more

Fraser and Blair Brave the Shave

Fay’s boys clearly have the same combination of drive, ambition and kindness that their mum had.  They decided to “Brave the Shave” in September 2019 to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, and the total they raised shocked even Macmillan. learn more

Memorial walk 21st July 2019

On the first anniversary of Fay’s passing, we had a friends and family walk up to the top of Blackford Hill.  It was one of Fay’s favourite spots, near her flat in Edinburgh.  It was a windy day!  However, it was beautiful, and we sat for a while, chatted, had a picnic, and enjoyed the views across Edinburgh.
