At the end of her high school years, Fay applied to several university courses. As the photo shows, she wasn’t short of offers! The “U” meaning “unconditional”, her school grades were so good that she had her choice of which course to attend. She decided on the University of Strathclyde, to study English.

As a wonderful tribute to Fay’s legacy, Alan Brophy, an old friend of hers, has set up the “Fay Purves Scholarship” in 2020 to fund a student to attend Strathclyde University over their four year degree. The Strathclyde University Scholarship Programme supports young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and aims to help them realise their potential. learn more
Strathclyde University 1990-1994
Fay began a degree in English at Strathclyde University, but after a year decided to change to Business Law and Psychology. She graduated with an upper division second class honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Law and Psychology in July 1994.
